What The American Dream Means to Me

What does the American Dream mean to you? I realize that it will mean different things to different people; that's ok. To me the American Dream means to have freedom,  pride in country, beautiful healthy family, good income, nice neighbors of all nationalities, freedom to worship. Today all of that is hard to find. But me, I think I have about all of it. My parents give me freedom, I have pride in my country, I have  beautiful healthy family, good income, and sort of nice neighbors. My family and I have worked hard to receive the good income we have and my grandparents have worked hard to give us the freedom we have. My family has taught me the value of hard work, and I believe I am a hard worker. I work hard for what I got and what I want. I go to school full time, I work as a CNA full time and I manage to get anything that needs to be, done. I have went through hard times but I have managed to reach the dream as a collage kid. I am able to have anything I want with the job I have and my wonderful parents. I have a roof over my head, I am well fed, I have the car I have always wanted, and I have a wonderful boyfriend to help me with every step through the way. Some people say dreams will eventually turn into smokes and ashes and will be lost, but that is not how I see it.

Colages having racial prooblems

Do U.S. Collages Have a Race Problem? By: Brandon Giggs, CNN
This article is about collages being diverse, and the different types of diverse problems. Collages have harassment problems and schools have a problem discipline the students over the racial issues. This article tells us about different collages like: University of Missouri, University of South Carolina, University of Oklahoma, UCLA, USC, and others. Every collage has race issues.
I personally believe that yes all collages have racial issues. Some collages take a stand in their problems while others don't. Some people think that this race issue is just now starting, but no, we have always had a racial issue all around the world. No matter where you o they will always be a racial problem. The minority students at schools with less diversity experience indicates stereotyping, and discrimination. Reports of discrimination often at schools where the student body is more ethnically diverse.

Missouri Football Players take a stand

On August, 26 2015 a group of Missouri footballs players took a stand to how they feel about racism. There was other student that had talked about it but nothing was reaching the president of their collage. So with the help of the coaches and staff the football players told the president that they would not play in another game until they saw something happen. On November 9, 2015 President Tim Wolfe resigned in the middle of criticism of handling of racial issues. Although, it was not right to blackmail him, and it was not just the president’s fault for all the racism going on. There is other ways to address racism then to go on a hunger strike. When you go on a hunger strike you are just hurting yourself, not everyone else. You could have a protest and go on many different strikes, like: the football players refusing to play. I believe that is was a good idea for Tim Wolfe to resign, he was not doing his job and listening to the students in the first place. The football players and faculty did the right thing by standing up and addressing the situation. The Coach backed up all the players and their efforts to change the school. Why try to be a president to a collage if you are racist.  If Wolfe wasn’t going to change the school someone had to and I’m glad the football players took a stand. In the picture above is the Missouri football players.

S.C Police Officer throws around high school student

The first thing that came to my mind when I first saw the video of the S.C. police officer throwing around the high school student, was that she should have just listened to her teacher, and the other administrators. If she should have just listened to them and done as told she would have never been thrown around like that. If someone higher in authority ask you to do something you don't say “no” or try to fight with them, you should just do as told. In one of the videos it looks like you can see her swing at and punch the officer. During all of this happening why did none of her classmates try to help her or do anything about it. Instead they all had their phones out videoing i so they could put it on social media. I‘m not saying it was okay for the officer to handle her like that, he could have done something different. He was right with taking her out of the classroom, because she was being disruptive. If she would have just complied with him everything would be okay. He wouldn't have lost his job, and she wouldn't have got thrown in the flor.
Not all white people are racist even though most are. Whites isn't the only ones that are racist, blacks are racist too. When something happens to a black from a white it is all over social media. But when it happens the other way around nothing is ever said. If people would just stop bringing race relation problems to social media we wouldn't have this problem. What about when a white cop does something to a white boy. You never see anything about that, all because they are the same race.

The "N word"

When it comes to reading books with the word "nigger" in them, I believe it is okay for kids to read that word. Just because they are reading something with that word in it doesn't mean that they are going to go around saying it all the time and calling people it. But when it comes to children reading out loud I think they should be able to choose to say "nigger" or "n-word" or not even say anything at all.
When I am reading and I come to that word I don't say it. I just say the "n-word" or don't say anything at all. I think it is awkward when reading and someone says that word, especially is there is colored people in the classroom too. That's how society is today, no one knows what the true meaning to the word nigger. Children say the word among their friends but dare to say it in front of their parents. It's all because they don't know the true meaning of it. Today' people has a name for every race, not just blacks.
In my opinion books with the word "nigger" in them should not be banned. Today's generation will never understand the history of the word "nigger".
I do not believe the word should be replaced. But you should have the option to say it or replace it when you are reading out loud. I believe it was a good idea to get the students to write about what they think of the word and how it feels saying the word out loud when reading. In order to love literature you must understand the history of words.

my pros and cons of writing

When I write a paper I think I am good at coming up with a topic. If I like what I am interested in what I am talking about then I will be more interested in writing. I find the topic I want to talk about do a little research on it, then start writing. It is much easier to do something you are interested in, if I had to write about baseball I would be fine, but writing about something like politics would be much harder because I am not interested in it.
Although I am not good at putting my essays in order, I have a tendency of wanting to jump around in my paragraphs. I am also not good at starting off or ending my paragraphs. I never know how to put my words together and come up with what I am wanting to talk about in each paragraph. I go from topic to topic and get switched up.
