Missouri Football Players take a stand
On August, 26 2015 a group of Missouri footballs players took a stand to
how they feel about racism. There was other student that had talked about it
but nothing was reaching the president of their collage. So with the help of
the coaches and staff the football players told the president that they would
not play in another game until they saw something happen. On November 9, 2015
President Tim Wolfe resigned in the middle of criticism of handling of racial
issues. Although, it was not right to blackmail him, and it was not just the president’s
fault for all the racism going on. There is other ways to address racism then to
go on a hunger strike. When you go on a hunger strike you are just hurting
yourself, not everyone else. You could have a protest and go on many different
strikes, like: the football players refusing to play. I believe that is was a
good idea for Tim Wolfe to resign, he was not doing his job and listening to
the students in the first place. The football players and faculty did the right
thing by standing up and addressing the situation. The Coach backed up all the
players and their efforts to change the school. Why try to be a president to a
collage if you are racist. If Wolfe wasn’t
going to change the school someone had to and I’m glad the football players
took a stand. In the picture above is the Missouri football players.
