The "N word"

When it comes to reading books with the word "nigger" in them, I believe it is okay for kids to read that word. Just because they are reading something with that word in it doesn't mean that they are going to go around saying it all the time and calling people it. But when it comes to children reading out loud I think they should be able to choose to say "nigger" or "n-word" or not even say anything at all.
When I am reading and I come to that word I don't say it. I just say the "n-word" or don't say anything at all. I think it is awkward when reading and someone says that word, especially is there is colored people in the classroom too. That's how society is today, no one knows what the true meaning to the word nigger. Children say the word among their friends but dare to say it in front of their parents. It's all because they don't know the true meaning of it. Today' people has a name for every race, not just blacks.
In my opinion books with the word "nigger" in them should not be banned. Today's generation will never understand the history of the word "nigger".
I do not believe the word should be replaced. But you should have the option to say it or replace it when you are reading out loud. I believe it was a good idea to get the students to write about what they think of the word and how it feels saying the word out loud when reading. In order to love literature you must understand the history of words.
